Technical Background

A deep understanding of both business and technology allows me to function as a translator between business and marketing managers and programmers and engineers.

The Sprint.com environment is built on a sophisticated server and network infrastructure, and a range of industry standard server platforms. Managing a Fortune 100 website demands expertise in the following technologies:

  • UNIX - Sun Solaris and iPlanet web server
  • Java - BEA Weblogic application server
  • Database - Oracle 8i
  • HTML, JSP and CSS
  • W3C specifications and ADA accessibility guidelines
  • Vignette content management systems
  • Blue Martini ecommerce platform

A good deal of knowledge is articulated in admistering the environment to allow for easy development under tight security. To achieve the simple "www.sprint.com/longdistance/" address, much work is done in advance for the developer so he or she can maintain an application and conform to standards:

  • Training sessions on server environment and development processes for new developers.
  • Automatic insertion of common header and footer elements into an application reduces maintenance and heightens conformance.
  • Common tools such as email servlets are provided and built to meet technical and security specifications.
